Moving South
We are finally able to go public with our announcement that we are moving to Alexandria...no, not Virginia or Egypt, but back to Louisiana! The questions we know we'll get the most when we say we are moving from Colorado to Louisiana are an exasperated "WHAT??" and "WHY??" to which there is a very simple answer-family.
We both came to Colorado following dreams of mountain streams and deep powder. We found that, plus much more and have enjoyed our many years exploring these hills. They are what we will miss the most. There is little that can match the majesty of high altitude adventures and we have been lucky enough to play in the Rockies year after year.

As we enter into a life of humidity, we know we'll miss the dry climate but that comes with its own perils like aging you well before your years. 300 days of sunshine a year will also do that. We'll also miss the coziness of a blizzard that keeps you housebound, but won't miss shoveling snow and cabin fever.
We look forward to things like a spring that starts in March (Colorado's snowiest month), fly fishing for reds and some real college football tailgating! Here's some other stuff we're excited about:
We have been working on leaving Colorado for some time, with our sights set on the southeast. We explored options in many cities, with the help of many generous people. Last December, a serendipitous turn of events directed our attention towards Cenla and I found myself interviewing for a job there.
In May, I will begin working at Freedom Tours, LLC a New Orleans based international travel agency with an office in Alexandria (www.freedomtoursllc.com).
We build custom international trips for people all over the world. In fact, Freedom Tours just returned from an amazing trip to Vietnam and Cambodia! I am beyond thrilled (is that even possible) to be letting my travel bug stretch its legs again after so many years in hibernation. I am also looking forward to some recon work as it has been over a decade since I traveled around the world.
The soap business is coming with us and I will continue that part time, with my sights set on participating in some of the local markets.
Eric has two job offers he is considering and will make a decision on that in the coming weeks.
We are packing up the family truckster and heading out next weekend. We have a long journey in front of us and can't wait to start this new chapter in our lives!
Louisiana or bust!!
